Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refund Policy

LEXUNITY LEGAL SERVICES LLP
Last Updated: 1 September 2026

This Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refund Policy (“Policy”) governs cancellation requests, appointment rescheduling and refunds relating to legal consultation and other professional legal services provided by LEXUNITY LEGAL SERVICES LLP (“Lexunity”, “Firm”, “We”, “Us” or “Our”) through www.lexunity.in, telephone, email, WhatsApp or any other authorised communication channel.

By booking an appointment, making a payment or engaging Lexunity for legal services, the Client (“Client”, “You” or “Your”) acknowledges and agrees to this Policy.

This Policy shall be read together with Lexunity's Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

1. NATURE OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Lexunity provides professional legal services, including but not limited to:

  • Legal consultation;
  • Legal advice and case assessment;
  • Legal notices and replies;
  • Legal drafting;
  • Documentation;
  • Bail matters;
  • Criminal matters;
  • NDPS matters;
  • Civil and commercial matters;
  • Corporate and business law services;
  • Family and matrimonial matters;
  • Employment and labour matters;
  • Legal research;
  • Compliance assistance; and
  • Court and tribunal representation, subject to the applicable engagement.

Because legal services may involve professional time, legal research, consultation, drafting, preparation, case assessment and other work undertaken specifically for a Client, cancellation and refund eligibility may depend upon whether professional services have already commenced.

2. APPOINTMENT BOOKING

An appointment may be requested through the Website or through other communication channels provided by Lexunity.

An appointment shall be considered confirmed when:

  1. The required information has been received;
  2. Lexunity has confirmed the appointment; and
  3. The applicable fee has been paid, where advance payment is required.

Payment is required after booking/confirmation of the appointment, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

3. CANCELLATION BY THE CLIENT

A Client may request cancellation of an appointment by contacting Lexunity through the contact details provided below.

Cancellation requests should preferably be made in writing through email or another official communication channel.

The cancellation request should contain:

  • Client's name;
  • Registered mobile number;
  • Email address;
  • Appointment/service details;
  • Payment/transaction reference, where applicable; and
  • Reason for cancellation, if the Client wishes to provide one.

The time at which the cancellation request is received by Lexunity shall be considered for determining eligibility under this Policy.

4. CONSULTATION APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION

For a scheduled legal consultation:

Cancellation more than 24 hours before appointment

Where a Client requests cancellation more than 24 hours before the scheduled consultation, the Client may request:

  • Rescheduling of the consultation; or
  • A refund, subject to applicable payment-processing charges and other permissible deductions.

The Firm may, at its discretion, provide a full or partial refund depending upon whether any professional work has already been undertaken specifically for the Client.

Cancellation within 24 hours of appointment

Where cancellation is requested within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, the Firm may:

  • Offer one-time rescheduling; or
  • Provide a partial refund, where appropriate.

Any refund shall be considered after taking into account professional time already reserved or work already undertaken.

Failure to attend / No-show

If the Client fails to attend a confirmed consultation without providing reasonable prior notice (“No-Show”), the consultation fee may be treated as non-refundable.

The Firm may, at its discretion, offer one opportunity to reschedule the appointment.

5. RESCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS

A Client may request rescheduling of a consultation by providing reasonable advance notice.

Subject to availability, Lexunity may permit the Client to reschedule an appointment.

Generally:

  • Rescheduling requested more than 24 hours before the appointment may be accommodated without an additional fee;
  • Rescheduling requested within 24 hours may be subject to availability and the Firm's discretion;
  • Repeated rescheduling requests may require a new appointment or additional fee; and
  • Emergency situations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Rescheduling is not guaranteed and remains subject to the availability of the relevant lawyer or professional.

6. CANCELLATION AFTER PROFESSIONAL WORK HAS COMMENCED

Where Lexunity has already commenced professional work, including:

  • Legal research;
  • Case assessment;
  • Consultation;
  • Drafting;
  • Document review;
  • Preparation of pleadings;
  • Preparation of legal notices;
  • Preparation of legal opinions;
  • Filing preparation;
  • Court preparation; or
  • Other work specifically undertaken for the Client,

the Client may not automatically be entitled to a full refund.

Any refund, if applicable, shall be determined based on:

  1. The amount of professional work already completed;
  2. The stage of the engagement;
  3. The professional time already utilised;
  4. Expenses already incurred;
  5. Third-party charges;
  6. Court/government fees, where applicable; and
  7. The specific terms agreed for the matter.

7. DRAFTING SERVICES

For legal drafting services, including notices, petitions, applications, agreements, replies, representations and other legal documents:

Once drafting work has commenced, the fee may become non-refundable to the extent of professional work already performed.

If a Client cancels before drafting work has commenced, the Firm may consider the cancellation and refund request subject to any administrative, payment-processing or other permissible deductions.

Once a completed draft has been delivered to the Client, the professional fee for preparing that document shall ordinarily be considered earned and non-refundable, subject to applicable law.

8. LEGAL NOTICE SERVICES

Where a Client engages Lexunity for preparation of a legal notice or reply:

  • Cancellation before work commences may be considered for a refund;
  • Cancellation after research or drafting has commenced may result in a partial or no refund depending upon the work completed; and
  • Once the final legal notice/reply has been prepared and delivered, the professional fee shall ordinarily be non-refundable.

Any court fee, stamp duty, printing, courier or other third-party expense shall be treated separately.

9. BAIL AND CRIMINAL MATTERS

For bail, NDPS, criminal and other urgent legal matters, professional work may commence immediately after engagement because of the time-sensitive nature of such matters.

Accordingly, once Lexunity has commenced:

  • Case assessment;
  • Legal research;
  • Drafting;
  • Preparation of bail applications;
  • Conference with the Client;
  • Court preparation;
  • Filing preparation;
  • Appearance preparation; or
  • Other professional work,

the applicable professional fee may become non-refundable to the extent of work performed.

Important

Payment of a legal fee does not guarantee bail, acquittal, discharge, settlement, quashing, favourable orders or any particular judicial outcome.

A refusal, rejection or adverse order by a court, tribunal, police authority, prosecution or other authority shall not by itself create an automatic right to a refund where the contracted professional services have been performed.

10. COURT REPRESENTATION AND LITIGATION SERVICES

For litigation and court representation, fees may cover specific hearings, stages, appearances, drafting or other agreed professional services.

Once preparation or representation work has commenced, the relevant professional fee may become non-refundable, subject to applicable law and the specific engagement terms.

Where a hearing is cancelled or adjourned by a court or authority, the Client shall not automatically be entitled to a refund of professional fees for work already undertaken or professional time reserved.

Where applicable, a subsequent hearing may be subject to separate professional fees.

11. GOVERNMENT FEES, COURT FEES AND THIRD-PARTY EXPENSES

Amounts paid towards:

  • Court fees;
  • Government charges;
  • Filing fees;
  • Stamp duty;
  • Notarial charges;
  • Certified copies;
  • Process fees;
  • Courier charges;
  • Travel expenses;
  • Expert fees;
  • Third-party professional fees; or
  • Other expenses incurred specifically for the Client,

may be non-refundable where such amounts have already been paid, incurred or cannot reasonably be recovered.

Such expenses are separate from Lexunity's professional fees unless expressly stated otherwise.

12. REFUND FOR DUPLICATE OR ERRONEOUS PAYMENT

If a Client makes:

  • A duplicate payment;
  • An accidental additional payment; or
  • A payment in excess of the agreed professional fee,

the Client should notify Lexunity promptly.

After verification, the Firm may process the eligible excess amount through the original or appropriate payment method, subject to applicable payment-processing procedures and lawful deductions.

13. PAYMENT GATEWAY CHARGES

Where a refund is approved, any payment-gateway, banking, transaction-processing or similar charges that are lawfully non-recoverable may be deducted from the refund amount, where permitted by applicable law.

The Client will be informed of any material deduction where reasonably practicable.

14. REFUND PROCESS

Approved refunds shall generally be processed using the same payment method through which the original payment was received, unless another method is reasonably required or mutually agreed.

Before processing a refund, Lexunity may verify:

  • Client identity;
  • Transaction details;
  • Payment reference;
  • Service details; and
  • Eligibility under this Policy.

The time taken for the refund to appear in the Client's account may depend upon the relevant bank, payment gateway or financial institution.

15. REFUND REQUEST PROCEDURE

Refund requests should be submitted to:

Email:
LEXUNITYLEGALSERVICES@GMAIL.COM

The subject line should preferably state:

“Refund Request – [Client Name] – [Transaction/Appointment Reference]”

The request should include:

  • Full name;
  • Mobile number;
  • Email address;
  • Service booked;
  • Date of booking;
  • Date of appointment, if applicable;
  • Amount paid;
  • Transaction/reference number; and
  • Reason for the refund request.

16. PROCESSING OF REFUND REQUESTS

Lexunity shall review refund requests on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration:

  • The nature of the service;
  • Whether the appointment occurred;
  • Whether professional work commenced;
  • The extent of work completed;
  • Whether documents were prepared or delivered;
  • Whether third-party expenses were incurred;
  • Whether the matter was urgent;
  • The agreed scope of engagement; and
  • Applicable law and professional obligations.

Approval of one refund shall not create an obligation to approve future refunds in different circumstances.

17. CANCELLATION BY LEXUNITY

Lexunity may cancel or decline an appointment or engagement where:

  • A conflict of interest is identified;
  • The matter falls outside the Firm's professional capacity;
  • The requested service cannot lawfully or professionally be provided;
  • The Client provides materially false or misleading information;
  • Required documents or information are not provided;
  • The Client fails to make the required payment;
  • The Client engages in abusive, threatening or inappropriate conduct;
  • Continuing the engagement would violate applicable law or professional rules; or
  • Other circumstances make continuation of the engagement inappropriate or impracticable.

Where Lexunity cancels an appointment before providing the paid service, the Firm may provide a refund of the applicable amount, subject to any lawful deductions or expenses already incurred.

Where professional work has already been performed, the refund, if any, shall be determined according to the stage and nature of the work completed.

18. CHANGE IN LAW OR COURT CIRCUMSTANCES

Legal matters may be affected by:

  • Changes in legislation;
  • New judicial decisions;
  • Court orders;
  • Government notifications;
  • Procedural changes;
  • Changes in jurisdiction; or
  • Other circumstances beyond Lexunity's control.

Such changes do not automatically create a right to a refund where the Firm has provided the professional services agreed with the Client.

19. NO REFUND BASED SOLELY ON LEGAL OUTCOME

LEGAL FEES ARE CHARGED FOR PROFESSIONAL LEGAL SERVICES AND NOT FOR GUARANTEEING A PARTICULAR RESULT.

Accordingly, a Client shall not be entitled to an automatic refund solely because:

  • A case was dismissed;
  • Bail was rejected;
  • A petition was unsuccessful;
  • A legal notice did not produce the desired response;
  • A settlement was not achieved;
  • Compensation was not awarded;
  • A court passed an adverse order;
  • A matter took longer than expected; or
  • The Client did not obtain the desired legal outcome,

provided that Lexunity has performed the professional services falling within the agreed scope.

20. CHARGEBACKS AND PAYMENT DISPUTES

If a Client has a genuine concern regarding a payment or service, the Client should first contact Lexunity and provide the relevant transaction and service details.

Clients are requested not to initiate an unauthorised chargeback where the relevant professional services have been validly provided.

Lexunity may provide relevant records to the payment service provider or financial institution in connection with a genuine payment dispute, subject to applicable law.

Such records may include:

  • Appointment confirmations;
  • Payment records;
  • Invoices;
  • Emails;
  • Messages;
  • Consultation records;
  • Draft documents;
  • Delivery records; and
  • Other relevant evidence of service delivery.

Nothing in this clause limits any statutory rights or remedies available to the Client.

21. EMERGENCY LEGAL MATTERS

Certain legal matters, particularly bail, criminal, arrest-related, NDPS and urgent court matters, may require immediate professional attention.

Cancellation and refund requests in such matters may be treated differently because substantial professional work may commence shortly after engagement.

Where an urgent matter has been accepted and professional work has commenced, the applicable professional fee may become non-refundable to the extent of work performed.

22. SERVICE-SPECIFIC TERMS

Lexunity may issue separate:

  • Engagement letters;
  • Fee proposals;
  • Scope-of-work documents;
  • Retainer agreements;
  • Appearance terms;
  • Invoices; or
  • Other written arrangements.

Where such specific written terms contain a different cancellation or refund arrangement, those specific terms shall prevail over this general Policy to the extent of any inconsistency.

23. NO WAIVER OF STATUTORY RIGHTS

Nothing contained in this Policy shall be interpreted as excluding or restricting any mandatory statutory right or remedy available to a Client under applicable law.

Where applicable law provides a mandatory refund, cancellation, consumer, data-protection or other right, such law shall prevail.

24. POLICY MODIFICATION

Lexunity reserves the right to amend, modify or update this Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refund Policy from time to time.

The updated version shall be published on www.lexunity.in together with the applicable “Last Updated” date.

The Policy applicable to a particular transaction shall generally be the version in force at the time of booking/payment, subject to applicable law and any specific written engagement terms.

25. GOVERNING LAW

This Policy shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India, subject to applicable mandatory laws and professional regulations.

Subject to applicable law, disputes relating to cancellation, rescheduling or refunds shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts at New Delhi, India.

26. SEVERABILITY

If any provision of this Policy is held to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, such provision shall be modified or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
